It used to be all about ‘Search engine optimization’, which was all about optimizing a website to increase its chances of gaining visibility in search engines. A traditional approach, still very much in use today, involving optimizing the website content, HTML, code used and the relevance of the website terms with search engine terms.
But now more and more there is a shift happening towards ‘Social media optimization’ as a means of using social media activity, with the intent of attracting users and views to a website.
It’s interesting to note the differences in the two approaches. One requires, knowledge of HTML and being able ti use computer software and code, at least to a basic extent. The other requires no knowledge of softwares, or HTML or codes; instead its all about simplicity. Anyone who can read and write plain english can use social media as a tool for website marketing and optimization.
Power to the masses!
