The much hyped and widely talked about ‘Commercial Privacy Bill of Rights’ was finally introduced by Senators John McCain and John Kerry. How ever the bill seems to be lacking in many aspects, specifically with regard to the ‘Do not track mechanism’, which is essentially an easy to use, users choice mechanism available to consumers who want to opt out of any information collection.
This mechanism was first brought about by the FTC in their privacy report, released late last year and was also strongly supported by various privacy groups.
The Electronic Frontier Foundation has a great write up about the bill, it is worth a dekko.
